Artist in Residence- Patrick D. Wilson

Agder Kunstsenter is excited to welcome Patrick D. Wilson to our Artist in Residency- program here in Kristiansand!

Patrick D. Wilson (b. 1976, USA) works in sculpture, photography, and digital modeling to create complex objects in dialogue with the built environment. He is particularly interested in speculative futures, notions of progress, and the relationship of imagination to experience. His work has been shown at SFMOMA Artists Gallery, the Stanford Art Gallery, Sharjah Art Museum, the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute and the NASA Ames Research Center. He has public works at the Buffalo Creek Art Center, the Mall of America, and the University of Minnesota Crookston. Patrick currently works in Kalamazoo, where he is an Associate Professor of Sculpture at Western Michigan University.

During his residency at Agder Kunstsenter, Patrick will be photographing locations of interest along Kristiansand’s coast to create immersive digital environments. He will use these environments as backgrounds for conceptual sculptures that evolve from their surroundings. Upon returning to the US, some of these objects will be realized as metal sculpture.
