Artist in Residence

Eriko Fujita at Artist in Residence, Kristiansand

Eriko Fujita is a Hiroshima-based, visual artist with a background in printmaking and photography. Her work explores themes of memory, frailty, and afterimage through making prints of landscapes, nature, and her immediate surroundings that can disappear instantly due to man-made disasters. Her works are composed by selecting symbolic shapes and colors from sketches based on places and landscapes she has visited or lived, and combining them with fragments of her memories.

During her residency, in addition to her regular Mokuhanga prints (Japanese water-based woodcut), she will also create a work incorporating small pieces of wood found on the island of Bragdøya
