Artist in Resident- Chloé Malloggi
Agder Kunstsenter is excited to welcome Chloé Malloggi to our Artist in Residency- program here in Kristiansand!
Chloé Malloggi (b.1999) is a French artist living in Bergen, Norway. She holds a Master degree in Fine Arts from the Bergen Art Academy, Norway and a Bachelor degree in Fine Arts from the Lyon Art Academy, France. Her work comes from an interest for paper and its language and her projects take their final form as sculptural installations, prints, books and shapes in between. Her practice is a collaboration with the mediums she uses. Leaning into the flexibility of paper and words, she gives her materials space to speak, to doubt, to become poetry, as a concept of language. Recently, paper provided the form for her to reflect upon subjects such as support systems, friendship, modesty or doubt.
During her residency, she will use this month spent with herself to reflect upon support systems, a subject that entered her practice recently. Her support system is made of the artists, writers, friends, encounters, and other inspiration sources that made her practice and herself. Surrounding herself with their names, she acknowledges that she doesn’t really work alone.
Her current research takes the shape of drawings of first names that she makes daily at the residency. She also brought with her leftover paper sculptures that allow her to experiment and create supports to host paper works. Back in Bergen, she wants to invite friends to exhibit their work on these improvised shelves.
At the end of her stay, she will give two workshops at Kristiansand Kunsthall, one of them part of LESKUNST. Participants are invited to discuss and reflect upon the idea of support system, its meaning, multiple shapes and roles. Together, they will collect names and gather communities in order to create an anthology of support systems and interconnections. The result of this gathering will be a riso-printed pamphlet, an archive created collectively.
